34 Preface وَلَقَد فَتَنّا سُلَيمانَ وَأَلقَينا عَلىٰ كُرسِيِّهِ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنابَAhmed AliWe surely tried Solomon, and placed another body1 on his throne. So he turned to God That body or person was Ad-o-nijah, son of David by Haggith, who had himself crowned king as David lay ill in old age, even though Solomon had been nominated by David as his successor. Beth-Sheba, mother of Solomon, and David were informed of this crowning, with the result that David had Solomon seated on the throe, and Ad-o-nijah was overthrown: the Bible: I Kings I. And Solomon, therefore, turned to God in gratitude.
